Kids in Court/Teens in Court
A court awareness program for children ages 6-12 who will testify in court. The primary goal of Kids in Court is to make the courtroom experience less intimidating for this very special group of witnesses and victims.
Teens in Court
A court awareness program for teenagers 13 to 17 years old who have to deal with a situation involving court and rather not be involved.
ADT Alarm System
The AWARE (Abused Women's Active Response Emergency) is a program provided by ADT Security Systems and the Johnson County District Attorney's Office in coordination with local law enforcement to provide an in-home security system to victims of domestic violence at no cost to the victim or county. It has been shown that this service is beneficial by further protecting victims and deterring abusers from committing further acts of violence.
Domestic Violence Information Session
Domestic violence advocates from the Victim Assistance Unit along with
Safehome conduct a daily information session for victims of domestic violence with a focus on available protective measures, community resources and safety in general. Additionally, victims are given the opportunity to provide input regarding any relevant concerns and recommendations for needed intervention, which are then provided to a domestic violence judge for consideration at the defendant's first appearance.
DUI Victim Panel
People who are victim-survivors of driving under the influence (DUI) crimes tell about their personal experiences. Audiences are generally DUI offenders or people involved with substance abuse treatment programs. This proactive program supports efforts to prevent future DUI crimes and tragedies.
Court Awareness Program (CAP)
This orientation program allows potential prosecution witnesses an informal environment in which to acclimate to the courtroom experience. General criminal justice procedures and courtroom protocol are explained.
