Drugs
The purpose of the Drug Unit of the Johnson County District Attorney’s Office is to charge and prosecute criminal cases involving drug distribution and felony drug possession. This unit is comprised of four assistant district attorneys that specialize in the prosecution of charged drug cases. During the previous calendar year drug charges were involved in over 800 criminal cases prosecuted by this office.
The drug unit is also responsible for litigating civil asset forfeiture cases for property and currency seized in drug distribution cases. During the previous calendar year 14 forfeiture cases were filed.
